As autumn approaches, Potekglass is bringing exciting new offerings to inspire your creativity. From Beads of Courage bead-making challenges to a wide range of classes, exciting art features, and a special retail sale, September is shaping up to be an unmissable month. Whether you’re looking to refine your skills or get involved in a community project, there’s something for everyone at Potekglass!

Art in the Shop: Sandy Erpelding

We are thrilled to showcase the stunning stained glass pieces of Sandy Erpelding. A true asset to the stained glass community, Sandy has breathed new life into hundreds of stained glass windows, lamps, boxes, and more. With a keen eye for glass selection and color, her work brings beauty and warmth to every piece.

Artist in the World: Norwood Viviano

Norwood Viviano’s work delves into themes of change through 3D glass, addressing how populations and landscapes shift over time due to industrial and social forces. Using 3D printed patterns and kiln-cast glass, Viviano’s work presents a visual narrative about the invisible transformations that shape our world.

Beads of Courage Bead Challenge

Potekglass is excited to be part of the Beads of Courage Bead Challenge! This incredible program helps children coping with serious illnesses share their story of courage through colorful glass beads. We’re inviting all bead artists to participate in this free event on September 23rd.

• When: September 23rd, 10 AM – 1 PM & 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
• What: A 3-hour open torch session where you can create beads that will be given to kids facing health challenges.

Come show your support, create meaningful pieces, and help children build their stories with courage.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass

Potekglass is offering a diverse selection of glass classes in September and beyond. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your craft, we have something for you!

Stained Glass Leaded Window
September 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th
Price: $115 (non-members), $103.50 (members)
Level: Intermediate
Learn the traditional lead came method of window creation. This 4-week course will help you create a stunning leaded glass window. Beginners must have prior stained glass experience.

Glass Menagerie Tortoise
August 24th, 5 PM
Price: $95 (non-members), $85.50 (members)
Level: Beginner
In this torchwork class, create a glass tortoise using borosilicate glass. Learn key techniques like striking colors and understanding gathers.

Italian Soft Glass 101: Lines, Dots, Barrels & Beads!
October 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th
Price: $350 (non-members), $315 (members)
Level: Intermediate
This 4-week course will teach you decorative beadmaking using various techniques like dot stacking, scrollwork, and filigree. By the end of the course, you’ll have created a collection of beautifully intricate beads.

Fused Agate Project
October 5th, 19th, 26th - 6 PM
Create a unique project featuring glass “agates”. This 3-week class will guide you through the process of selecting glass and putting it all together for a plate or standing sculpture.

Open Studio: Practice Your Skills

Every month, Potekglass hosts Open Studio Sessions for kiln, torch, and mosaic artists to practice their craft. Bring your own tools or rent a student kit, and enjoy 4 hours of creative studio time.

Cost: $35 (non-members), $25 (members)
Certification: Torch and Kiln certification required.
