Art, New Intern, and Upcoming Classes

This October, Potekglass brings you stunning artwork, a new intern, and exciting upcoming classes. From a commissioned glass sidelight to new workshops focused on torch work and ornament making, there’s plenty of opportunity to create and explore your artistic passion this month.

Art in the Shop: Amanda B. Amazing Daughter!

Fresh out of the studio, Malcom Potek created this beautiful 8' x 65' sidelight as a commissioned present for Amanda B.’s father. The stunning green and blue swirls on the red pane highlight the intricate artistry that goes into each of Malcom’s pieces. Stop by the shop to see the gorgeous details in person!

Welcome Our New Intern: Dez

We are thrilled to introduce Dez, a mixed media artist from South Minneapolis! Dez graduated with a BFA from the University of Minnesota in 2021 and has a passion for painting, printmaking, and community art. They are excited to dive into the world of glass art with us. Be sure to say hello when you visit!

Artist in the World: Angela Jarman

We’re inspired by the work of Angela Jarman, a UK-based glass artist with over 20 years of experience. Angela’s work is influenced by biology and the natural world, focusing on growth, reproduction, decay, and transformation. Her pieces, such as "Star Coral" and "Cobalt Agate Lozenge Geode", can be seen in public and private collections worldwide.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass

We have some exciting classes lined up for November and December that are perfect for expanding your skills or creating something unique for the holidays!

Icicle & Skier Ornament Make-iT! Workshop

• Date: December 2, 2023 | Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Price: $95 | Member Price: $85
• Level: Participants must have taken a Try-iT! class or have previous torch work experience.
• Details: Create beautiful handmade ornaments like icicles and skiers. This class focuses on heat and flame control, helping you create unique glass ornaments as perfect gifts. Expect to finish 2-3 ornaments.

Falling Leaves

• Date: November 11, 2023 | Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Price: $115 | Member Price: $103.50
• Level: Participants must have taken a Try-iT! class or have previous torch work experience.
• Details: Create stunning leaf pendants using borosilicate glass. This workshop explores the striking colors and techniques involved in creating these unique fall-inspired pendants.

Open Studio: Practice Your Skills

Join us for a 4-hour Open Studio Session every month. This is the perfect opportunity to practice your skills in a supportive environment with access to studio equipment.

• Cost: $35 (non-members) / $25 (members)
• Torch and Kiln Certification required for Open Studio Sessions.
