Art, Classes, and Community Events for Fall 2019

This fall, Potekglass continues to inspire creativity with exciting art shows, upcoming glass classes, and community events. From the artist residency at Achieve Language Academy to the Beads of Courage fundraiser, there’s something for everyone at Potekglass.

Art in the Shop: Framed Fused Glass
Our featured work, Exit Strategy, is the last piece created at the California Building before we moved. The 10.5” x 10.5” fused glass tile reflects the theme of transition and movement, symbolizing the journey and the community that has shaped Potekglass. This piece is a visual reminder of the airy light and grounded folk who have been a part of our creative process for the last 15 years.

Beads of Courage Fundraiser: A Call for Artists
Join Potekglass in supporting Beads of Courage, a program that provides symbolic glass beads to children dealing with serious illness. On Sunday, September 15, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, we will be hosting a Beads of Courage challenge, where local bead artists will create one-of-a-kind beads to be given to children as a way to tell their stories of courage. We’re proud to be the only studio in Minnesota hosting this annual fundraiser—come be part of something meaningful!

Artist in the World: Loren Stump
Loren Stump is a master flameworker, renowned for his exceptional murrine technique. This ancient art form involves melting glass rods together and slicing them to reveal intricate patterns. Stump has perfected the process, and his works, such as his interpretation of Da Vinci's Virgin on the Rocks, are masterpieces. His work has inspired artists worldwide, and his technique remains a benchmark for glass artistry.
