Migration, Fall Glass Classes, and Beads of Courage Fundraiser

This October, Potekglass is buzzing with creativity! From new installations to exciting classes and community events, there’s something for everyone at Potekglass. Join us this season as we explore art, classes, and give back to those in need.

Art in the Shop: Migration or Zion
Our featured installation, Migration or Zion, is designed for the Flux Arts Building and explores the motion of traffic on Lowry Avenue NE, where approximately 14,000 cars pass daily. The rhythm of traffic is reflected in the colors and forms of the piece, which symbolize the diverse history and cultural movement of the Northeast neighborhood. This installation captures the seasonal changes and the river’s connection to the area.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass
We have exciting glass classes this month, including specialized offerings for those looking to enhance their Italian soft glass and boro glass skills:

• Little Monsters (Sun 10/26): Create spooky glow-in-the-dark pendants for Halloween! Learn to work with Glo-powder and Thompson Enamel while exploring sculpture techniques.
• Colorful Falling Leaves (Sat 11/2): Learn the techniques of striking boro glass color and create a beautiful pile of fall-inspired leaf pendants.

Open Torch and Kiln Sessions are held on the following dates:

• 1st Monday: 5:00 - 9:00 PM
• 2nd Saturday: 1:30 - 5:30 PM
• 3rd Tuesday: 5:00 - 9:00 PM

Beads of Courage Fundraiser: A Call for Artists
Join us at Potekglass for our Beads of Courage challenge on Sunday, September 15. Local artists will craft one-of-a-kind beads that will be given to children coping with serious illness. This is our annual fundraiser, and we are proud to be the only studio in Minnesota hosting this event. Come make a difference!

European Christmas Market
Potekglass will be participating in the European Christmas Market at Union Depot, happening Oct 26-27. Visit us for unique glass art pieces and holiday gifts.
