Art, Classes, and Community Events
As the fall season unfolds, Potekglass continues to bring new projects, exciting classes, and vibrant collaborations to the Minneapolis art community. This October, we’re showcasing our collaborative work on the Family Partnership trivets, celebrating the unveiling of Angela Two Stars' Okciyapi sculpture, and offering engaging glass workshops. Plus, don’t miss out on our Free Glass Fridays and special Halloween-themed beadmaking class!
Art in the Shop: The Family Partnership Trivets
We’re thrilled to announce the completion of a 200-piece trivet project for the Family Partnership, in collaboration with Matt Sletten of BWBR Architects and Mark Knierim of Create Laser Arts. These custom trivets were inspired by the facade of the Family Partnership’s new building and reflect its patterned concrete design. The molds, crafted with pink silicone and white polyurethane, capture the intricate details of the architecture, while the laser-cut wood blocks ensured precision. These trivets were completed on time within 30 days and are now ready for delivery.
Artist in the World: Angela Two Stars
Angela Two Stars, a talented artist whose work is deeply inspired by her Native American heritage, has created Okciyapi, a labyrinth structure with concentric rings and a water feature in the center. This powerful piece, unveiled on October 7th, is a symbol of connection and mutual aid, translating to “help each other.” Inspired by Two Stars' grandfather, Okciyapi is a reminder of the strength found in community support and solidarity, especially during challenging times. Her artistry continues to inspire and promote healing in the Minneapolis area.
