Artist in the World: Nancy Callan
Nancy Callan is a renowned glass sculptor whose work has earned numerous accolades and residencies, including at the Museum of Glass, The Toledo Museum of Art, and the Chrysler Museum. Callan is well-known for her work with maestro Lino Tagliapietra’s glassblowing team since 1996. Her mastery of the medium is reflected in her stunning pieces, such as Apricot Shimmer Orb and Embers Droplet. Her work blends technical skill with creative expression, and she continues to inspire the glass art community around the world.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass
Potekglass is offering a variety of exciting classes this March, designed to suit both beginners and those looking to refine their skills. Check out the following classes and reserve your spot today:

  • Basics from Boron (March 6, 10:00 AM)
    3-hour class | Cost: $95 | Member Price: $69
    In this beginner-level class, you’ll explore the sculptural potential of Borosilicate glass, known for its durability. You’ll learn to gather molten glass and create small sculptures, like a paperweight and icicle ornament, while experimenting with glassblowing to create your own figure.

  • Open Torch and Kiln Session (March 13, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM)
    Certification Needed
    Work on your own projects with access to Potekglass’s torch and kiln equipment. This open session includes 4 hours of studio time. Supplies are not included but can be purchased at the shop.

  • Kiln Try-It! (March 13, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
    3-hour class | Cost: $95 | Member Price: $85.50
    In this class, you’ll learn to cut patterns out of sheet glass, create frit, and fuse them in the kiln to make a beautiful glass ring dish. This intermediate-level class is perfect for those looking to dive deeper into kiln-forming.
