Art-A-Whirl, New Classes, Linda Rossiter, & Lowry Avenue Construction

Art in the Shop: Blake Residency
Potekglass is proud to showcase a collaboration with Blake School students. First and third graders created tiles based on local birds, integrating symmetry and artistic storytelling. The piece, called "Blake School Blue Jay," features 14 tiles assembled to symbolize the care nature provides, with the Blue Jay as a protector watching over their school.

Artist in the World: Linda Rossiter
Linda Rossiter, a Hard Edge glass artist, is renowned for her geometric designs that play with light, reflection, and vibrant colors. Her pieces like "Gaze" and "Biscay Diptych" showcase her mastery in creating bold, angular patterns that evoke natural elements. Rossiter’s commitment to the Hard Edge style continues to push the boundaries of glass artistry.

Lowry Avenue Reconstruction
The Lowry Avenue reconstruction project is underway this summer in Northeast Minneapolis. This work, involving Hennepin County and other local authorities, is expected to affect nearby areas. Check for updated directions to Potekglass during this time.

Explore Bullseye Experience in Portland
Join the Bullseye Experience from October 21st-25th in Portland, Oregon. This unique 5-day opportunity includes hands-on projects with Bullseye instructors, a tour of the Bullseye factory, and more. The all-inclusive experience includes accommodation, meals, and transportation to local glass art installations.

  • Details: Learn basic borosilicate glass techniques, including creating small paperweights and icicle ornaments.

• Try-iT! Kiln Class: Fusing and Slumping

  • Date: June 27th, 5 PM - 8 PM

  • Details: Create a 5" x 5" glass tile and slump it into a catch-all dish. Learn fusing and slumping techniques.

• Try-iT! Italian Soft Glass Beadmaking

  • Date: June 29th, 10 AM - 1 PM

  • Details: Make and decorate Italian soft glass beads on a torch. Students will create 6-12 beads.

• Mastering the Art of Glass Cutting

  • Date: June 29th, 10 AM - 4 PM

  • Details: Learn glass cutting techniques to make straight cuts, curves, and a perfect circle.

• Glass Menagerie Try-iT! Tortoise
