Stained Glass Supplies, New Classes, and Artist Highlights

This June at Potekglass, we’re excited to share new stained glass supplies, creative projects, and upcoming workshops designed to help you elevate your glass art. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, we have something for everyone—explore our new classes, learn about our latest materials, and discover the latest in glass art innovation.

Art in the Shop: Residential Lighting in Minneapolis

We’re always thrilled to collaborate with clients and professional craftspeople to create unique glass designs for home interiors. This month, we helped realign a misaligned lighting array in a beautiful dining room by designing custom, UL-listed escutcheon hardware. The result is new, beautiful glass artwork centered perfectly on the dining room table, adding both function and beauty to the space.

Artist in the World: Ray Schoch

Ray Schoch is a Minneapolis-based stained glass artist whose work draws inspiration from abstract shapes and patterns. His stained glass panels often showcase vivid, geometric designs that capture the essence of modern art while still paying homage to traditional glassworking techniques. Some of his notable pieces include:

• Winged Vessel (20" x 40")
• Sometimes, We Cross Paths (20" x 40")
• Flyover Country (20" x 40")

These pieces reflect Schoch’s unique approach to abstract art, capturing the beauty of form and light through stained glass.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass

This month, we’re offering a variety of workshops, from beginner stained glass to sculptural glassblowing. Whether you’re new to glasswork or looking to enhance your skills, we’ve got you covered.

Beginning Stained Glass – July 9th, 2:00 - 4:30 PM
Cost: $115 (non-members), $103.50 (members)
Learn the basics of stained glass from start to finish. You’ll cover everything from pattern preparation to cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, framing, and finishing. No experience necessary.

Free Glass Fridays – Torch & Kiln – June 17th & 24th, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Cost: $35 (non-members), $25 (members)
Join us for Free Glass Fridays, where you can work with glass using our equipment and tools. We’ll provide Bullseye, Italian soft glass, and borosilicate glass for your creative projects.
