Happy New Year from Potekglass! We’re kicking off the year with a celebration of art, education, and exciting new classes. From 3-D stained glass to kiln work, we’ve got something for everyone. Plus, check out our featured artists and holiday hours!

Art in the Shop: Mid-Century Modern Flair in St. Anthony

A Mid-Century Modern stained glass project recently left the studio and now adorns a lovely home in St. Anthony, Minnesota. These retro panels exemplify the beauty and timeless quality of stained glass, proving how a touch of color can transform a home into something extraordinary.

Artist in the World: Christine Barney

We are thrilled to feature Christine Barney, a remarkable glass artist with over 40 years of experience. Her sculptures, including pieces like “Spin” and “Lively Conversation”, explore themes of growth, transformation, and the dynamic relationship between color and form. Christine’s dedication to glass as a medium invites viewers into a deeper connection with the art and the world around them.

Expressive Painting in Glass – With Tim Carey

• Date: Ongoing
• Details: This popular class returns, offering students the opportunity to create abstract glass art with guidance from renowned artist Tim Carey. Tim’s video lessons will be accompanied by in-person studio access and support. Open to all experience levels.

Kiln Try-iT! Glass Class

• Date: January 6, 2024 | Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• Price: $95 | Member Price: $69
• Details: Learn the basics of kiln-forming glass, including fusing and slumping. This class will help you create a 5" x 5" glass tile that will transform into a catch-all dish. Perfect for beginners!

Make iT! Stained Glass Snowflake 3D & 2D

• Date: January 11, 2024 | Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Price: $95 | Member Price: $85
• Details: This 3D project class will teach you cutting, foiling, and soldering techniques while making beautiful snowflake ornaments. Bring your own tools or rent from the shop!

Stained Glass Heart Shaped Box

• Date: February 1 & 8, 2024 | Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Price: $175 | Member Price: $156
• Details: Learn how to create a 3-D stained glass heart box with accurate cutting, foiling, soldering, and hinge-making. You’ll leave with a beautiful finished piece!
