Fusing, Casting, Torch Summer Camp & Kiln Workshops

This summer at Potekglass, we're offering exciting and unique opportunities to elevate your glass art skills with our Fusing, Casting, and Torch Summer Camp and the Cracking the Kiln Code workshop! Led by Malcom, these hands-on classes are designed for both beginners and seasoned artists. Learn to create a variety of fused glass projects such as bowls, tiles, and small sculptures while discovering new techniques like pattern bars, bead bars, and fiber molds. Malcom will also share essential kiln heating schedules and tips to achieve flawless glass pieces.

Additionally, we’re excited to showcase the work of renowned glass artist Karen LaMonte, whose monumental sculptures challenge the intersection of material, concept, and craftsmanship. With her works featured in museums worldwide, LaMonte continues to inspire with her innovative glass techniques. Her pieces, such as Nocturne 5 and Evening Dress with Shawl, exemplify her mastery in glass art.

Class Highlights:

• Earth Day Flower Power Class (April): Learn the intricacies of Borosilicate color while lampworking flowers. This 5-hour class covers stamping, color application, and flame dynamics. Perfect for those with prior torch experience, it offers the opportunity to sharpen your skills and create beautiful floral sculptures.

• Kids’ Summer Camp Reminder: Our Kids’ Summer Camp is an engaging, creative way to unplug this summer! With classes for Grades 3-5 (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) and Grades 6-9 (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM), kids will dive into hands-on glass art, learning about torchwork, kiln techniques, and sculpture creation. Don’t forget to sign up early as spots fill quickly!

• Open Torch Reminder: Join us for Open Torch this Thursday, April 5, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM! Whether you want to hone your lampworking skills or enjoy some creative time, our Open Torch sessions are a great chance to practice and improve. With a friendly host on hand to offer support, this is the perfect opportunity to take your glass skills to the next level.
