Kara van Wyk has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. She studied visual art at St. Olaf college, graduating with a visual art major and a license to teach K-12 visual art as well. When she met Malcom 20 years ago, her future mother-in-law gave her some high-firing glass paints and encouraged her to step into the glass medium with her painting skills. Now she has explored high-fired inclusions, low-fired paints, kiln-forming, and has recently made a foray into casting glass. She is a "maker" at heart, happy to commune with numerous media to put well-crafted objects into the world.
