Try iT! Glass Class Gift Certificate
Potekglass Flameworking, Beadmaking, and Fusing Glass Classes
Give the gift of a 3-hour session of creating glass art in one of our Try-iT! Glass Classes.
Just Try-iT! These are beginner sessions intended to introduce a glass-working approach. You will learn basic techniques specific to that approach and the type of glass used with hands-on practice time to get comfortable working with glass and open your eyes to the creative potential of glass! While each class highlights different elements, techniques from each one contribute to a better understanding - and may be applied - to a wide expanse of glass craft techniques. All 3-hour Try-iT sessions are $95 per person.
What classes can I take with my flameworking gift certificate?
Your Try-iT! Class Gift Certificate is good for any of our just Try-iT! glass classes.
These are beginner sessions intended to introduce a glass-working approach. You will learn basic techniques specific to that approach with hands-on practice time to get comfortable working with glass and open your eyes to the creative potential of glass!
Here are some of the Try-iT! classes available at Potekglass:
Try iT! Basics from Boron
Discover the sculptural potential of durable Borosilicate named for the element boron, which is added as a flux to create an American hard glass! This try-it will explore torchwork basics and each skill taught will culminate in a project after hands-on practice. You will learn to gather molten glass to create a small paperweight, smash and twirl a gather into an icicle ornament and experiment with glassblowing to create a small figure.
Try iT! Kiln and Fusing
Simple to start and endless in its potential; kiln-forming is to glass what conducting is to instruments. In this course, students will learn to cut patterns out of sheet glass, make frit, and work with a variety of glass formats by combing them in the kiln to produce a glass ring dish.
Try iT! Italian Soft Glass Beadmaking
Discover the ease of molding and shaping colorful Italian soft glass Effetre when it’s hot! You will learn to gather molten glass and apply on a mandrel to make beads on the torch. We will then explore surface decoration techniques to enhance beads. Expect to make between 6 and 12 beads depending on your work style.
How long are Try-iT! glass classes?
Each gift certificate gets you 3 hours manipulating glass in any of our Try iT! classes.
Does my gift certificate expire?
Like glass, your gift certificate will last through the ages. No expiration!
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Ages 9-13 must be present with a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians must purchase a seat in the class as well.
Ages 14 - 17 may be by themselves with signed permission from their parents.
Do I need to bring any safety equipment to a Try-iT! glass class?
Hot glass has been known to fly in our classes so we provide you with all the tools and best practices to protect yourself, but it's up to you to wear clothing that won't melt or burn easily if a piece of hot glass lands on you. Natural fiber clothing such as cotton will not melt and stick to your skin like synthetic nylon so make sure you wear something natural that you won't mind getting ruined.
