Art in the World: Almeric Walter
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the master glassmaker Almaric Walter (1870-1959) rediscovers the ancient technique of Pate’ de Verre (Paste of Glass).
Walter trained in Sevres before starting his own business. In 1905, he joined the famous crystal Daum in Nancy, France. Walter brings the technique of Pate’ de Verre to the company. He created objects in small glass sculptures, paperweights or lamps.
Working in the emerging Art Nouveau style He is credited with returning Pate’ de Verre to the forefront of the glassmaking industry.
