Upcoming Classes at Potekglass

Falling Leaves in Striking Colors

Thursday, November 17th

5pm - 8pm

3-hour class

Cost: $115

Member Price: $103.50

As the atmosphere changes and the leaves transform in color, so too does the striking palate of this American hardglass Borosilicate. Create a pile of one-of-a-kind leaf pendants using striking and interesting colors! Focus will be on the flame's atmosphere and gas mix to achieve beautiful colors in boro. We will go over sculpting skills as we hand press with patterned molds to create lines and stunning pressed glass leaves. Then we will create movement in the glass by reading the heat in a body of glass to achieve a flowing "falling leaf" effect. Lastly, we will practice loops/bails to finish the piece as a pendant! Projects for this class will be kiln annealed and available to be picked up the following week.

Intermediate Level Class

Cracking the Kiln Code: Fusing and Slumping

10am - 1pm (4 week course)

3-hour class, 4 weekly sessions

Cost: $175

Member Price: $157.50

Simple to start endless in its potential; kiln-forming is to glass what conducting is to instruments.

In this 4-week survey course, students will take away a foundational knowledge of kiln forming glass from tack-firing to fusing to slumping, basic mold making, how to build kiln furniture, ways to test a kiln for cold or hot spots, and how to run various heating schedules to achieve a successful end result.

Additional class cost for glass, tools, and supplies will range from $120 - $300 depending on glass selection.

This course certifies you to join Kiln Open Studio and Free Glass Friday Sessions at Potekglass.
