Art in the Shop: Up in the Trees

This piece was created for a door into a bedroom. The fall view provides beauty and privacy for the clients teenage boy. Up in the Trees uses various glass techniques to create a birch trees in fall.

Artist in the World: Sibylle Peretti

Sibylle Peretti is an artist who lives and works in New Orleans, LA.
She received her MFA in Sculpture and Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cologne and a Master in Glass Making and Design from the State School of Glass in Zwiesel, Germany.
She is the recipient of numerous awards including grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
In 2012 Sibylle Peretti was awarded the United States Artists Friends Fellowship.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass

Class Updates

Beginning in May classes will begin to seat 8 students per class. Masks are still required to participate. This allows classes to maintain 3 feet of space between students.

PotekGlass continues to observe CDC guidelines including 6ft social distancing and masks in the shop. Classes and open sessions will have no more than 4 students, through April. Masks are required to participate.

Discover the sculptural potential of durable Borosilicate named for the element boron, which is added as a flux to create an American hard glass!

This advanced beginner class is our introduction to sculpture on the torch. Using Boro color and clear rod, students will learn the fundamentals of creating shapes into small animal sculptures.

Students in the Fish class will learn seals, how to tune a gather and smash, heating out tool marks, and how to work with and strike colors.

Kiln Tessellations Try-iT!

June 05
Time: 1:30pm - 5:30pm
Beginner Level Class

This class teaches the principles of tessellation and translates them to the luminous art that is glass!

Just Try-iT! These are beginner sessions intended to introduce a glass-working approach. You will learn basic techniques specific to that approach with hands-on practice time to get comfortable working with glass and open your eyes to the creative potential of glass!

Special Effects - Kiln

July 17
Time: 10:00am - 5:00pm
Intermediate Level Class

Previous experience with glass is required for this intermediate class. Potekglass provides Try-iT classes for beginners to gain needed experience.

This class includes one full day of kiln special effects.

Art-a-Whirl 2021

After a crazy year I am happy to announce that Potekglass will be open for the great Whirl! We will be showing off work, have discounts on classes and be fully vaccinated. We still ask everyone that visits to please wear a mask. Hope to see you this weekend.
